Where to eat in Madrid

Madrid is a big city with a huge amount of restaurants. It is not easy to find the good restaurants and not end up in tourist traps. During our stay, we had some amazing food here by doing some good research using other blogs and tripadvisor.

Here are some places where you have to go during your stay in Madrid.

Chocolateria San Gines

When you are craving something sweet, you need to try churros. A churro is a fried-dough snack that you have to dip in hot chocolate. Chocolateria San Gines is a café that serves churros since 1894. You can enjoy your churros outside, standing at the bar, or in the back in a little room. For me it was the first time I had churros, and it was sooo good.

La Mi Venta

In Spain, you have to eat paella at least once. After doing some research we decided to go to La Mi Venta for dinner. We had some drinks outside (that where accompanied with some appetizers) after which we moved inside in a little dining room in the basement. This is such a very nice and cosy restaurant with excellent service. The paella was very good with a lot of fresh sea food. Afterwards we also got some digestive and halloween candy.

El Viajero

For lunch, we ended up in this restaurant in La Latina. We had a sandwich with burrata here and some crispy chicken, croquettes, and potatoes. Everything was tasty and with the lively atmosphere here, it is certainly not boring to have lunch here.

Taberna del Chato

For our last evening, we wanted some good tapas. We headed to Taberna del Chato, a cute little tapas bar. All the tapas are served in little glasses, called chato, while enjoying some very good wine.

We tried a number of tapas and they all were amazing. My favorites were the steak tartare, the tuna tartare and the partridge pate.

This tapas restaurant is really a must to visit to enjoy some different style of tapas with a friendly service.

Mercado de San Miguel

When you visit Madrid, you have to go to the Mercado de San Miguel. This is a covered market where you can not only buy but also eat tapas, sweets, ham, and other foods. You can combine all the delicious foods with sangria, wine, and cava.

We had some croquettes, ham, calamari, sangria, churros, and some pastries. This is an excellent place to have lunch. There is so much food that is hard to choose what you want.
