This was June - Travel Eat Enjoy Repeat

June was a pretty quiet month in terms of traveling. The weather was still very nice, with some very hot days. Perfect for enjoying ice-cream and sangria.

June in short

In the beginning of the month, we spend a weekend in the Ardennen, the Southern part of Belgium. We visited the Achouffe brewery and tasted some delicious beer. Especially the new Cherry Chouffe was my favorite.

We also did a short hike around the little town of Achouffe.

The day after, we stopped briefly at Bastogne and visited the Mardasson Memorial.  It is a monument honoring the memory of American soldiers wounded or killed at the Battle of the Bulge during World War II.

I was lucky enough to go on a business trip to Chicago. Although we were there for only 2.5 days, there was some time to visit the city. I was surprised that I really liked the city, especially the Old Town quarter which had a European feeling to it.

On a Friday evening, there was also aper’eau in Mechelen, an open air after work drink at the city center. With nice weather, good music, and delicious drinks it is perfect to start the weekend.

Restaurants visited

It was a quiet month for restaurant visits. We only visited Via Via in Mechelen.

Besides all the things done in June, I also posted some pictures of our short visit to Damme from last month.

There was also a collaboration with a number of travel bloggers about their favorite cities in Belgium.

The most popular Instagram photo of June was a picture of my trip to Chicago.

July travel plans

July is very quiet, a sort of peace before our trip to Iceland at the end of August. Traditionally we will go to 10 days of Ghent, but only for one day.

I will also go to Eindhoven again for a PhD defense of an old colleague. It will be nice to be back and see everybody.

And we will try to visit a gueuze brewery this month.

What did you do in June? And what are your plans in July?
