I like making travel plans well in advance, or at least have an idea of the things I want to visit. At the moment, not a lot of these intentions are really fixed, except the first one.
In January, we are going to Amsterdam for a weekend with some friends. Besides going to a few museums (Anne Frank House and Van Gogh), we will just wander around to explore the city. It is the last weekend of the Amsterdam Light Festival so will also explore this, probably with a boat. I am already busy looking for nice places to eat 😊.
Last year, it was the first time we booked a trip in February to get some sun. We then visited Marsa Alam in Egypt and enjoyed the sun in an all-inclusive hotel. Of course, there was also room for some culture with a visit to Luxor. This year, we will probably go to Marrakech, but that is not definitive yet. It will depend on prices and availability in hotels. Another option is again Egypt to combine it with a trip to Cairo.
All the bottles of Champagne we bought 2 years ago are empty, so it is about time to buy some new ones. And what better way to buy new Champagne than to go and taste them first. Last time we stayed in Epernay and visited some Champagne houses in Hautvillers and Damery. We still need to do some research on some new Champagne houses to discover.
If you look at my bucket list, you will see that hike Cinque Terra is on there. This year is finally the year that we will go there. We will be driving from Belgium to Tuscany with a small stop in Lausanne (I lived there for 6 months). We want to not only explore Cinque Terra but also Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Milano, and Verona. And maybe also do some wine tasting in the Chianti region. We still must plan everything but we will be having 2 weeks in September to explore. And because we liked camping so much, we will be doing that too in Italy. I look forward to 2 weeks of sun, good food, and nice Chianti.
This is also something that is on my bucket list for a very long time. New York is a city that appeals to the imagination. I have heard and seen so many nice things about it, that it is about time I experience it for myself. It will be the perfect trip to celebrate our birthdays in November.
Explore more of Belgium
My boyfriend and I laugh about it sometimes that we have visited Las Vegas three times already but never visited a number of cities in Belgium like Namur. We will try to explore more of Belgium and some of the neighboring countries such as The Netherlands and Luxemburg.
Some personal development
I also decided that I will start a photography course in February. I love photography but I want to learn more and make more photographs while not being on a trip. And maybe also try some things outside of my comfort zone.
If you have any tips about one of the destinations, please let me know.
What are your travel intentions for 2018?
