A perfect long weekend in Luxembourg

Luxembourg is a small country, so it is perfect for a long weekend.

A great place to start is visiting its capital Luxembourg City. You can just wander around the city, or follow one of the self-guided tours. Definitely stop by the Chocolate House for a hot chocolate or a piece of homemade cake.

The Moselle Region in Luxembourg is only 30 minutes away from Luxembourg City. This region is perfect for wine tasting. During the Pentecost weekend, 20 wine growers and cellars open their doors during “Wine Taste Enjoy”. Here you also find Bernard Massard. Their crémants are perfect gifts to take home.

When in Luxembourg, you have to do some hiking. The Mullerthal has it all: beautiful forests, caves and enchanting little streams. There are more than enough hiking trails: there is something for everyone.

During this weekend, we stayed at Hotel zum Mühlengarten by Relax Inn at Nittel, right across the border in Germany. This hotel was perfectly located near the wine festival: within walking distance from Bernard Massard. The hotel has a decent restaurant where they serve some regional specialties such as schnitzel and tarte flambée.

The hotel itself was good: spacious and clean rooms. Only the breakfast wasn’t fantastic: only white bread and not even a croissant.

We had an amazing time exploring Luxembourg but there is still so much more to visit and do here. We will definitely come back to see more of this beautiful and versatile country.
