In Blaasveld, near Mechelen, you can visit distillery de Molenberg, where the Gouden Carolus single malt whiskey is distilled. The base of this whiskey is the mash of Gouden Carolus Tripel beer made in the brewery Het Anker in Mechelen.
Guided tour
During the guided tours you get a very good and enjoyable explanation of the history of the distillery, as well as the whole production process. You also have the chance to see the copper pot stills. The barrels however are stored in the brewery, in downtown Mechelen.
After the tour, you have the opportunity to taste the Gouden Carolus Single Malt Whiskey. With this comes an explanation about the different editions and the differences in smell and taste.
