Hotel Mövenpick Resort in Taba (Egypt)

Hotel Mövenpick Resort is located at the border crossing between Egypt and Israel. Because it is a little bit in no man’s land, you don’t have to pay the entry fee of 32 euro to enter Egypt. It is therefore the perfect hotel if you want to go to Eilat during your stay.

From the outside, it looks like a huge complex, but it isn’t that huge. Everything is reasonably compact and therefore also doable for people who aren’t that mobile.

Reception

Upon entering the hotel Mövenpick Resort in Taba, you are welcomed very friendly at the reception. During the completion of the documents, you can enjoy a welcome drink. After a complete explanation of the all-inclusive formula, we get the keys to our room.

Basically, everything is included except the lobby bar and the a-la-carte restaurants. This was a minor flaw for us: the lack of a cozy lobby bar to enjoy a drink in the evening.

Rooms

The rooms are relatively spacious and have light and colorful decoration. Here you really see that the hotel is a little bit outdated and repairs are necessary. But the rooms are big, functional and especially they are clean. And you have big balconies with mountain or sea view. In the bathroom, you find bath and douche products and a hairdryer. The minibar is not included, coffee and tea are. And you get a free bottle of water every day.

Restaurant & bars

There are different bars spread across the domain, including 2 pool bars and a bar at the beach. It took us a while to figure out that they also served cocktails here: they don’t really advertise it, but the mojito is actually quite nice. The beach bar was our place to enjoy a drink in the evening.

The main restaurant is the place to be for breakfast, lunch, and dinner: everything buffet style. For breakfast, you can enjoy a freshly prepared omelet, different kinds of bread and pastries, condiments, fresh fruit, and much more. And don’t forget a glass of fresh orange juice!

Lunch and dinner are more or less the same: salads, different warm and cold dishes, a variety of bread, and a dessert buffet. The salads are the same every day: there was a lack of variation. But everything is super tasty, especially the baba ghanoush was my favorite. That was the start of my lunch and dinner every day: baba ghanoush with yummy pita bread.

The main course consisted of meat, fish, vegetarian, or chicken. There is something for everyone, but again: lack of variation. We especially missed some theme nights. However, Friday evening was kind of an Egyptian night with some Egyptian dessert specialties.

The dessert buffet was one of the best we ever had in an all-inclusive hotel. That was mainly due to the quality of the chocolate, I think. I had the intention to only have dessert during dinner, but I didn’t manage to keep that promise. I could also have fruit instead of pastries, but the pastries were too good for that. Definitely try the rice pudding!

Although there was a lack of variation in the food, everything was very tasty!

Pool & beach

While we were there, they were renovating the main pool. There is also a smaller pool but also a beautiful beach. This was the place where we spent our holiday. The beach chairs were very comfortable with thick cushions and umbrellas. There was more than enough space between the chairs, making it possible to move your chair according to the position of the sun.

Conclusion

We really enjoyed our stay at hotel Mövenpick Resort Taba. The hotel is maybe a little bit outdated, but it is well maintained and clean. The friendly staff will make you feel right at home. It really is the perfect hotel to enjoy the sun: a beautiful beach, tasty food, and cocktails. That is what a good holiday is all about!
