Rooms with a view collaboration - Asia and Australia - Travel Eat Enjoy Repeat

Some hotel rooms just have the most amazing view. So amazing, that you just want to stay in your room to enjoy the view.

I asked fellow travel bloggers to share some of their rooms with a view in Asia. Enjoy!!

Overwater villas in the Maldives (With Husband in Tow)

rooms with a view

When it comes to a hotel room with a view, nothing comes close to the view you can experience while staying in a hotel in the Maldives with overwater villas. Many hotels in the Maldives offer different types of rooms, some with jungle or garden views and some with immediate beachfront access. But, the cream of the crop of hotel rooms in the Maldives includes those famous overwater villas.

Like a dream come true. An overwater villa in the Maldives provides a view so long and deep it feels like sitting at the end of the universe. There are so many different shades of blue, in the water, and all along the horizon. Each morning, you can hear the tiny little waves lap the stilts of the room. And, fresh fish and even black-tipped sharks swim underneath.

Yes, the Maldives is an expensive place to visit, with rooms ranging from $700-$1000 or more a night. But, when waking up at the Hurawalhi Maldives, in an overwater villa, it suddenly seems all worth it. Even if for only one night (try to stay for more!).

Beachfront villa in Hoi An, Thailand (From Real People)

rooms with a view

For me, travel is about two things. The first is the chance to explore new, exotic places as far removed from our normal day-to-day lives as possible and interact with the local community. The second is the chance to enjoy some peace, rest and relaxation from the hustle and bustle of the crazy modern world we live in.  My room with a view is taken from one of the beachfront villas at the Boutique Resort in the Vietnamese city of Hoi An. The photo was taken just after sunrise in the early morning as the locals were preparing for fishing. It epitomizes both of the key aspects of travel that is important to me.

Over recent years Vietnam has embraced tourism and grown at an enormous rate. The central cities of Da Nang and Hoi An have expanded exponentially with all sorts of amazing, modern resorts. It’s easy to stay in an amazing hotel, visit the main tourist sights and retreat to the comfort of your hotel. By doing so, you’ll miss out on the true spirit of Vietnam provided by its wonderful people.  By seeking out family restaurants and other local businesses at every opportunity, you will be rewarded with some amazing experiences. You will also be helped to put money in the pockets of the local community.

Room 101 – Gokyo Lakes Lodge, Gokyo, Nepal (A Social Nomad)

rooms with a view

This magnificent view is to be found in Room 101, at the Gokyo Lakes Lodge at the base of Gokyo Ri, Nepal in the heart of the Himalayas. You can only reach this lodge on foot if you’re trekking to the Gokyo Lakes region – or perhaps taking one of the longer routes to Everest Base Camp.  The snow in the foreground is covering one of the magnificent Gokyo Lakes, normally an iridescent blue reflecting the sky and peaks above.

The room is basic, but with a view like this, what more do you need? With two single beds and space for your gear. There are shared toilets and a shared lodge dining room where you can take breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Conrad Xiamen Hotel in Xiamen, China (Romantic Explorers)

rooms with a view
My partner and I still can’t decide if it is a blessing or a curse to have stayed in a hotel with unforgettable views such as those we experienced from just about every room in the luxury Conrad Xiamen Hotel in Xiamen, China. It’s a blessing because wow, we’ve never seen anything like it but then it’s a curse because nothing has since come close to it! You don’t have to wait until you enter your hotel room for the first time to catch a glimpse of the spectacular views that the hotel is known for – you will be in awe from the moment you approach the reception desk as the immaculate floor to ceiling windows start behind the counter and will keep distracting you as you try your hardest to focus on the check-in questions asked by the friendly hotel staff.
Once checked in, a short stroll to the lift will lead you past stunning, modern spaces in the hotel where you can either relax or dine next to more of the best views of the ocean roads and Gulangyu island. Once you finally enter your room, the curtains open automatically to reveal your very own slice of heavenly mountain views to appreciate from your bedroom and even the bathroom. Then, just when you think it can’t get any better than that, you will soon discover the breathtaking views of the indoor pool!

Tokyo’s skyline is breathtaking and what better way to enjoy it than from the relaxing privacy of your own room. In Andaz Tokyo, all guestrooms boast incredible city views, overlooking either Tokyo Bay, Imperial Palace and Skytree, or the iconic Tokyo Tower. Given that it perches on top of one of Tokyo’s highest buildings, you are guaranteed to secure completely unobstructed views!

Within the hotel, there are many places where you can admire the spectacular Tokyo skyline beside the guestrooms. Andaz Tavern on the 51st floor, for example, offers stunning views of the city over the Imperial Palace through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows. In the evening, the sky-high Rooftop Bar on the 52nd floor is one of the best places in the city to soak up the incredible cityscape while sipping on a cocktail. Even at the spa treatment rooms, you will have the pleasure of an exceptional view as you relax!

Andaz Tokyo no doubt has one of the best vantage points in the city. Book a stay at this Tokyo luxury hotel if you want the perfect city view!

If you’re visiting Australia then what could be more iconic than a room with a view of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
The Park Hyatt Hotel is situated in the historic and beautiful Rocks area of Sydney If you can tear yourself away from the magnificent views from the hotel you will find yourself wandering through cobbled laneways, discovering hidden historical buildings, gourmet eateries and luxurious boutiques.

The wonderful staff and attention to detail and luxury will make your stay as wonderful as the view.

Vattersgarden Isolabella Resort, Nilwella, Sri Lanka (My Adventures Across the World)

rooms with a view
Nilwella isn’t one of the major tourist places in Sri Lanka, yet it is a lovely place to visit, as it offers access to some fantastic beaches, and it has retained its local charme. The most famous beach around is Blue Beach (a beautiful beach that hardly gets crowded and that gets some perfect waves for surfing), but the nearby Blow Hole also deserves to be visited. The local market is a great place to observe a bit of local life.
The nicest place to stay in the area is Vattersgarden Isolabella, as it has direct access to the beach. Rooms are located around a gorgeous garden, with a beautiful, large pool that uses sea water. Some rooms have fabulous views of the small beach below, known as Blue Island Beach. Vattersgarden Isolabella is an ayurvedic center, where it is possible to book treatments that help rejuvenate the mind and body. Packages typically include accommodation, meals, and therapies.

Banyan Tree Bintan, Bintan, Indonesia (Singapore N Beyond)

rooms with a view
Residents of Singapore are spoilt for choice when looking for a quick weekend getaway. Our two favorite beach escapes are the Indonesian islands of Bintan and Batam as it’s an easily accessible ferry tide away. At 3 pm you can be sitting at your office desk and by 5pm you’re sipping cocktails in your private villa. I loved staying at the Banyan Tree Bintan as each villa is perched high up on stilts, has a perfect view of the azure ocean and has its own outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. Pure luxury. Beyond the airy rooms, the spa treatment at any Banyan Tree property is legendary. The food is also personalized with private dining options on the beach, which is very romantic. So you can also get a side dish of spectacular view with your dinner.

SO Sofitel Bangkok, Thailand (Love and Road)

rooms with a view
Bangkok is an amazing city, Thailand’s capital is packed with culture and architecture wonders, and nothing better than a bird’s eye view to see the beauty of the city. SO Sofitel has one of the best views of Bangkok, located in the heart of the city it has a privileged view from Lumpini Park surrounded by the city skyline. Not only the rooms have a fantastic view, the infinity pool hanging over the park is incredible. And if you want an even higher viewpoint, go for sunset drinks at the HI SO Rooftop bar, on the 42nd floor of the hotel you can enjoy delicious cocktails while watching the city light up. Unforgettable!
My favorite room is the corner suite facing the park, the view is to die for. On top of that, the hotel is close to many tourist attractions making easy to explore the city. There are so many things to do in Bangkok that you need to stay in a place that is well connected with public transportation and taxis, and even better if it has a stunning view.

W Taipei, Taiwan (Roamscapes)

rooms with a view

Imagine sipping on a glass of wine or a mug of hot tea while you lounge by a full-length window, treating yourself to the night lights of Taipei 101 and its busy surroundings. That’s exactly what I did when staying at the W Taipei, which is located right in the heart of Taipei’s commercial Xinyi District.

Staying at the W Taipei gives you easy access to several attractions in the surrounding area: there’s the National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall, Xinyi Public Assembly Hall (a retro-cool arts cluster that used to be a military village), Linjiang Street Night Market, and Xiangshan (Elephant Hill) hiking trail where you can marvel at the entire city.

Despite all that Taipei has to offer in the way of museums, art galleries, shopping, and street food, I loved this view so much I wanted to just sit by the window all day and watch the world go by from 18 floors above. I was in Taipei for work so I was out all day and didn’t get to fully enjoy the room, but I couldn’t ask for a better place to wind down than here!

Guesthouse in Chomrong, Nepal (Teja on the Horizon)

rooms with a view

One of the places I’ve stayed at which was memorable for its views, was Chomrong, a large-ish village in the Annapurnas of Nepal.

To get there you would have to go on one of the longer Annapurna treks because Chomrong is the last village in Annapurna before entering the sacred highland area where no beasts of burden may be used and a vegetarian diet is observed. Annapurna Base Camp is at the end of this route beyond Chomrong.

I was put up at a guesthouse literally called ‘Excellent View’, and it certainly lived up to its name. The rooms opened onto a long outdoor gallery overlooking the Annapurna peaks and the valley below. As I went in the monsoon season, the view was partly misted over by fog and cloud. But the misty mountains have a secretive, shy beauty that was charming in its own way.

Panviman Chiang Mai Spa Resort, Thailand (Finding Beyond)

rooms with a view

When visiting Chiang Mai, Thailand’s second city in the north, it’s important to make sure to get out into the surrounding mountains. Once you’ve exhausted all the city sights such as the many intricate temples, awesome markets, narrow Old Town streets, delicious food and too many coffee shops to choose from, we recommend booking a few nights at the peaceful Panviman Chiang Mai Spa Resort which clings into the nearby mountain’s side. The views from all over the resort are stunning and they get no better than from the rooms themselves. From the pool, the breakfast room, the restaurant, the lobby, the gym, the coffee shop and the gardens, there’s nowhere that doesn’t reward you with a spectacular view of the jungle-clad mountains and local villages below. There are many accommodation options in the resort, from private villas to smaller hotel rooms, but to enjoy a room with the best view book one of the Sky Mountain Junior Suites. Situated at the highest point of the resort the lookout from their huge balconies is truly awesome.
