Secret Food Tours Vancouver

It is no secret that I love food, and what better way to explore a city then through its food.

Secret Food Tours organize food and drink tours all around the world. We booked a food tour in the Gastown district of Vancouver.

We met our guide Austin at 11 am sharp in downtown Vancouver. He immediately showed that he knows a lot about Vancouver and its history. Upon entering Gastown, you immediately see that this atmospheric part of town is the place to be for good food.

Vancouver has a big sushi culture, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that the first stop is a sushi restaurant. Here we tried 2 rolls: the local Gastown roll and a BC roll. A delicious start of the tour.

The second stop was for some poutine. Their twist on the national dish is using pulled pork. The result is a heavy but delicious dish. Loved the slight sweetness of the pork combined with the salty cheese.

Next, we went to a vegan restaurant. Here they proof that vegan food doesn’t have to be boring. We had some oyster mushroom kalamari and sweet-chili cauliflower. Very inventive and delicious.

Before dessert, we enjoyed some maple chocolate.

Dessert was soft serve ice cream. It was a hard choice, but we ended up eating a Salty Himalayan: Original Peak sprinkled with pink Himalayan salt and maple syrup. For me, it was a little bit too sweet (too much maple syrup).

This post is the result of a nice collaboration with Secret Food Tours. My opinion is however still my own.
