For me a holiday already starts with planning for it. We finally decided where to go this summer, and it is ICELAND. We will be there for 2 weeks the end of August. Except for the first and last days in Reykjavik where we will be staying at hostels and Airbnb, we will be camping. We are planning on doing a lot of day hikes from different places and just enjoy the beautiful nature of Iceland.
This is our rough itinerary thus far:
We will start in Reykjavik and stay there for a day before picking up our car. Next stop will be Landmannalaugar where we will be staying for 2 nights before driving to Skaftafell. Stopping at Jokulsarlon, we will then drive to Reydarfjordur (or close by) before driving to Jokulsargljufur/Myvatn. After Myvatn we will be staying at Hveravellir before going back to Reykjavik with a stop at Glymur. All the major attractions I could find are already on our map. If some things are not along our route, we will see then if we have time for them.
We more or less have a general idea but we still need to do some research for good hikes and the best photography spots.
Do you have some must-do hikes and the best photography spots? Or any restaurant recommendations in Reykjavik or along our route?
