Chicago has been a city that I was curious about because I heard so many different things. Some people just love it while others hate it because it is so busy. So I was pretty happy I could go there for a business trip.
Chicago is perfect to explore on foot. There is so much to see and do that 1 day was simply not enough to see everything I wanted. But although we were there for only a few days, I must say that I was a fan. Especially the Old Town Neighbourhood with its restaurants and bars had a European feeling to it.
It was in this neighborhood our hotel, Hotel Lincoln, was located. At first sight, this isn’t your typical business hotel but appearances are deceptive. Located right next to Lincoln Park, it is perfect for visiting the free zoo. On Saturday there is a big farmers market there, just in front of the hotel. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the opportunity of visiting it.
Friendly welcome and beautiful rooms
When you enter the hotel, the first thing that stands out is the reception area. It is so nicely decorated for a cozy feeling. The check-in was flawless and very friendly. All the people that work in the hotel are so genuinely friendly and helpful.
I was lucky to have a room that had a view of Lincoln Park. The rooms were beautifully decorated with a lot of eye for detail. I loved the pictures on the wall and the nice little desk near the window. The room and the bathroom were spacious enough for one person and had all the comfort I would need with of course the option for coffee and tea. In the bathroom, there were more than enough towels available. The provided shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and body lotion smelled so good.
Stunning view and good food
The rooftop bar is one of the best features of the hotel. We had breakfast there and the view is just amazing. And the food too 🙂 . I had a not so traditional breakfast of poached eggs, wheat berries, and spring vegetables. So delicious.
We had a business meeting there and I must say, the meeting room couldn’t differ more from other meeting rooms I have been too. I especially loved the wooden tables and the possibility of writing on the wall. And the candy on the table. And the salted chocolate chip cookies during the breaks. And the lunch. Everything was provided.
If you are looking for a hotel in a nice neighborhood, don’t hesitate and book a room at Hotel Lincoln. If you are on a business trip or just there on a holiday, it is the perfect hotel with nice rooms and a very friendly service.
