The Nothern part of Iceland is less crowded than the South but there are some interesting things to see. While we were there, the weather wasn’t the best, so there was a lot of cursing involved 😊. But we did some amazing things and we were lucky there weren’t a lot of people.
When you are driving from Reykjavik, the first waterfall you will see is Seljalandsfoss. Because we didn’t do the Golden Circle until the end of our road trip, this was the first waterfall we saw. And it was spectacular. And for a unique view, you can even walk behind the waterfall into a little cave.
Reykjavik was the start and the end of our road trip around Iceland. On our first day in Reykjavik, we did a free walking tour. It is the perfect way to explore all the important places in the city and learn more about it and Iceland in general. And we were very lucky with the weather: a beautiful sunny day.
Whale watching in Iceland was an experience we didn’t want to miss. So, we booked a 3h whale watching tour with Salka from Husavik.
We love food, and that is only an understatement. So, when I saw that you could do a food tour in Reykjavik, I didn’t hesitate and booked one. You really get to know a country by its food. We booked a tour at Wake Up Reykjavik.
Iceland always has been a dream destination of us, it isn’t on my bucket list for nothing. And this year was THE year! Because hotels and Airbnb are soo expensive, we decided to go camping. This also gave us the freedom to decide when we would go visit what and how long we were going to stay. And on top of that was this my camping debut. And I have to admit: camping was so much fun and we will definitely do it again.
