We did a road trip around Iceland for 2 weeks at the end of August. This is a perfect time if you don’t want the crowds and still want some decent weather. But you have to keep in mind that the weather in Iceland can be unpredictable. We had a very good first week and a wet second week.
When you are driving from Reykjavik, the first waterfall you will see is Seljalandsfoss. Because we didn’t do the Golden Circle until the end of our road trip, this was the first waterfall we saw. And it was spectacular. And for a unique view, you can even walk behind the waterfall into a little cave.
Reykjavik was the start and the end of our road trip around Iceland. On our first day in Reykjavik, we did a free walking tour. It is the perfect way to explore all the important places in the city and learn more about it and Iceland in general. And we were very lucky with the weather: a beautiful sunny day.
Whale watching in Iceland was an experience we didn’t want to miss. So, we booked a 3h whale watching tour with Salka from Husavik.
We love food, and that is only an understatement. So, when I saw that you could do a food tour in Reykjavik, I didn’t hesitate and booked one. You really get to know a country by its food. We booked a tour at Wake Up Reykjavik.
