With Photo Sunday I want to share beautiful shots with a story.
This week’s photo is from Carolina. She is a Swedish adventure-seeking teacher who quit her job, sold her apartment and her belongings and set out on a four-year-long cycling tour around the world together with her boyfriend. Even if teaching is both inspiring and challenging it won´t substitute for a real-life cultural or adventurous experience. She is after something you can’t read in a book. She blogs about her experiences on Velovelo.
The picture is of me cycling in the Sahara desert south of Mauritania. Me and my boyfriend is cycling around the world and the picture is from one of our hardest part of the trip so far. The desert is stunning and beautiful but cycling in the heat with up to 140km until the next stop where you would be able to buy water is hard. In the picture, I’m carrying a lot of water on my bicycle. At maximum, we carried 27 liters of water together. The sun warmed up the sand and shade were (almost) nowhere to be found.
