Photo Sunday 62 - Travel Eat Enjoy Repeat

With Photo Sunday I want to share beautiful shots with a story.

This week’s photo is from Buthaynah. She lives in London and she is of European and Egyptian descent, and a bit of a plane geek!. Being of mixed heritage always made her eager to learn about other countries and cultures from a very young age. She travels as often as she can (with a full-time job in the real world!) and she blogs about her travels, offering helpful info and tips at Come Fly with B. She believes there is so much to be gained from travel, not just a sense of adventure and soaking in beautiful scenery – but also an appreciation and understanding of other cultures (which lord knows, we need right now!). One of her goals is to encourage more non-adventurous people to get out there and see the world. She knows too many people who are intimidated by the “unknown” and stay in their cities missing out on all the beauty that can be experienced through travel.

One of the most serene places I’ve ever visited on my travels; this is the Blagaj Tekke, a Sufi Monastery set at the base of a cliff, above a jade-green river near the city of Mostar, Bosnia. For hundreds of years, this monastery was a place for people to come and spend time in seclusion and worship surrounded by little more than the serenity of nature. Today, the Blagaj Tekke still boasts an other-worldly charm, with the Sufi dervish house lovingly restored, offering beautiful views of the surrounding river and cliffs. This is a must-visit for anyone looking for a tranquil escape from the busy-ness of the city of Mostar!
