If you are near Aalst and you want some really good Belgian food, you have to go to Afspanning De Jaeger. This restaurants has a certain theme: the interior is full of statues, old pictures that gives it a warm feeling. In the summer, there is a fantastic outside place where you can enjoy your diner.
When we want delicious food that comes in decent portions, we always go there.
For the first course we had cheese croquettes and carpaccio of beef.

It was a very meaty dinner, because for the main course we had steak with pepper sauce, and steak tartare. I know a lot of people don´t like to eat raw meat and eggs, but it really is delicious and a specialty in Belgium (and France).

For dessert we had creme brulee and ice cream with strawberries. Together with the coffee, we also got some cuberdon and caramel candy.

This is a must visit restaurant if you are in Belgium and near Aalst. It is advisable to make a reservation well in advance, because this is a very popular restaurant.
