Tips when visiting Disneyland Paris
Disneyland Paris can be very busy, especially in the summer months. And although it is a big park, waiting times can be as high as 2-3 h. Not only the rides can be busy, also the shops, restaurants, shows and parades can be very busy. There are a few tips when visiting Disneyland Paris.
The first tip is to buy your tickets in advance on the website.
Use the Disneyland App
The Disneyland app gives real-time waiting times for all the rides in both Disneyland and Disney Studios. It also gives the times of all the shows and the parade. You can even reserve restaurants with the app.
Stay at a Disney Hotel
If you stay at a Disney Hotel, you can access the park from 8.30 am instead of 10 am, giving you an extra 1.5 h to go to the most popular rides like Ratatouille, Big Thunder Mountain or Hyperspace Mountain. Keep in mind that not all rides are open. You can check which rides are open with the Disneyland app. When staying in a Disney Hotel, you also get free parking. The cheapest is Davy Crockett Ranch (10 min drive from Disneyland) where you stay at little houses. Definitely check for special offers regularly.
Every ticket comes with a free FastPass. At a number of rides, you can get a FastPass that will allow you to come back at a designated time. You can then get on the ride almost immediately through the FastPass lane.
Although it says on the website you can’t get a second Fastpass, it is possible. On your FastPass there is a time that says when you are allowed to get another FastPass for a different ride. The number of FastPasses is not unlimited. Some rides will run out of FastPasses pretty early in the day.
If you don’t mind going back and forth between the 2 parks: you can have a FastPass for a Disneyland ride and a Disney studios ride at the same time.
The rides where you can get a FastPass are:
- Indiana Jones
- Hyperspace Mountain
- Buzz Lightyear
- Big Thunder Mountain
- Peter Pan
- Star Tours
- Disney Studios:
- Tower of Terror
You can also pay for a super or ultimate fast pass (starting from €30). More info can be found here
In the park itself
Try to do one part of the park at a time. This will not only save you steps but also time. If possible, start your day with the most popular ride you really want to do.
If you are visiting both parks, it is best to start at Disney Studios because they close earlier.
Not interested in the parade or the Disney Illuminations show? It can be a good idea to do some of the popular rides at that time. Want to know what our favorite rides are? Find it out here.
Some rides offer a separate waiting line for single riders. How does it work? For example, a family of 3 is getting in a 4-person car. The single rider will be placed in the 4th seat.
You don’t get to sit next to each other, but the waiting times are considerably shorter. We waited 45 min in line for Ratatouille while my boyfriend and a friend waited 10 min as a single rider.
It is available at the following rides:
- Hyperspace mountain
- Disney Studios:
- RC racer
- Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop
- Crush’s coaster
Reserve your seat at a restaurant
If you don’t want to waste time during the day waiting in line at a restaurant, you can pack your own lunch, or you can wait until after lunch hour. For dinner, it is best to reserve your seat at one of the restaurants in the park. We had dinner at Davy Crocket Ranch (buffet) and it was very good.
