May was a very busy month with a lot of weekends with friends and enjoying the beautiful weather. Because Finally, summer has arrived in Belgium. Ok, only the last week.
What did we do?
In the beginning of the month, we spent an afternoon in Antwerp to visit the MAS museum. Although not far from Mechelen, we need to visit Antwerp more often. Of course, we also have to eat: Chinese dim sum for lunch at Fong Mei in Antwerp and Mexican for dinner at restaurant Tropicos also in Antwerp.
Belgium is a small country making it possible to visit a lot of places without having to drive for long. In May we went to the Belgian coast twice, to 2 different places. One time we rented an apartment with friends in Wenduine and explored the Zwin Nature Parc. A tradition when being at the coast is eating pancakes or a waffle. This weekend we had a giant waffle at Silversand in Blankenberge, the place to be for sweet tooths.
The second time we were invited at Hotel Belle Dune in Middelkerke. This was the perfect hotel to explore the surroundings. The owner of the hotel recommended restaurant De Sauteuse for dinner. An excellent choice
On our way home, we had a small stop in Damme, a little town outside Bruges for some lunch and beautiful pictures.
Restaurants visited
It was a quiet month for restaurant visits. I had dinner with a friend at Portobelfino in Sint-Niklaas.
And we visited Botta’N Ik in Grimbergen for the second time.
May Blog posts
Besides all the things done in May, I also caught up on our trip to London.
Instagram Posts of the Month
The most popular Instagram photo of May was my photo of the giant waffle we had at the Belgian coast.
June travel plans
The first weekend of June, we will be in the Southern part of Belgium to hike, explore, and drink some beer (or at least visit a brewery).
For work, I have to go to Chicago for 2 days. Hopefully, I will get the chance to explore the city a little bit. At the same time, my boyfriend will be walking 25k as part of the Great Breweries Marathon.
And to end the month of June, we will go to the Beer Passion Weekend in Antwerp. Although I don’t drink a lot of beer, I want to try some fruit beers and champagne beers. It will be our first time visiting this beer festival but I know we will have a great time.
What did you do in May? And what are your plans in June?
